12 February 2008. General de Alquiler de Maquinaria (GAM), through its GAM Industrial division, takes a step further in its strategy to diversify its activities with the signing of a new logistics agreement. The company has closed a deal with Integral Transport Service, S.A. and ABX Logistics España, S.A. to assist both companies in preparing the site of “EXPO ZARAGOZA 2008”.
GAM will be exclusively in charge of unloading all manner of merchandise inside the EXPO ZARAGOZA grounds for the assembly of 114 stands located on the various levels (underground, street level and first floor) and for the removal of debris generated by the merchandise. The duration of this contract signed by GAM lasts until 14 June 2008, the date this important international event kicks off. GAM forecasts a turnover of up to €3 million with this deal.
The machinery that GAM will be using to provide the contracted services consist of 18 diesel forklifts (2,500 kg), 10 telehandlers, 10 electric forklifts (2,000 kg), 2 freight lifts, 6 ladders, 6 manual pallet jacks, 2 crane lorries and one 30 tonne crane. To undertake this operation, they also have qualified operators to carry out the tasks of logistical organisation and coordination as well as to deal with unloading and debris collection.
This logistics operator service contract for EXPO ZARAGOZA, mobilised by GAM Industrial's specialised division, joins the activity that GAM, officially recognised as an EXPO 2008 rental company, has been engaged in as part of the preparation of the EXPO site since the very beginning.
GAM is the leading machinery rental company in the Iberian market; a highly fragmented sector in which GAM is a comprehensive global operator thanks to its extensive network of branch offices. Following its recent acquisitions, and above all, thanks to its steady growth, the company has over 100 branch offices across Spain and Portugal and a fleet of more than 60,000 pieces of machinery made by the best manufacturers on the market. They include dump trucks, electrical equipment, compressors, platforms, self-propelling mobile cranes, handling vehicles, compression equipment, auxiliary equipment and light machinery, amongst others. Additionally, GAM is attempting to diversify its sources of revenue by strengthening divisions such as GAM Eventos, GAM Verde, GAM Energía, GAM Industrial, GAM Estructuras, GAM Vías, GAM Puertos, and Servigam. |
